FAQ
Hair extensions fall into two main categories: temporary and semi-permanent.
Clip-In: Temporary, DIY extensions with clips for damage-free, occasional wear.
Tape-In: Semi-permanent, flat wefts taped to thin sections of hair. Requires professional application and maintenance every 6-8 weeks.
Micro-Link: Strands attached with small beads; a damage-free method that requires professional maintenance every 2-3 months.
Sew-In / Weave: Wefts sewn onto braided cornrows; a secure method for thick or textured hair.
Pre-Bonded / Fusion: Strands attached with keratin glue; offers a natural look but is expensive and requires a professional.
This is the gold standard for quality.
Remy Hair: This means the cuticles of the hair are kept intact and aligned in the same direction. The cuticle is the outer layer of the hair strand. When cuticles are aligned, the hair tangles less, shines more, and lasts much longer. All high-quality extensions should be “Remy.”
Virgin Hair: This is hair that has never been chemically processed—meaning it has never been dyed, bleached, or permed. It is in its purest state, which means it accepts color and holds styles beautifully.
Human Hair Extensions: Yes, but with caution. We only recommend coloring light colored hair to darker colors. It is highly recommended to have this done by a professional colorist who has experience with extensions. Important: The hair has already been processed and may react differently to dye than your natural hair. Always do a strand test first.
No, not if they are applied correctly, maintained properly, and cared for by a qualified professional.
Damage is caused by:
Improper Application: Too much weight on one area, attachment too close to the roots, or using the wrong method for your hair type.
Poor Maintenance: Not getting them moved up on time, which causes tangling and pulling as your natural hair grows.
Low-Quality Hair: Cheap hair can tangle and mat, pulling on your natural hair during removal.
Poor Aftercare: Rough brushing, sleeping with clip-ins in, or using harsh products.
Choosing an experienced stylist and following their care instructions is the best way to ensure a damage-free experience.
The key for thin hair is to avoid heaviness and stress on the follicles.
Best Choice: Tape-In Extensions. They are the lightest weight option and lie incredibly flat against the scalp, making them virtually undetectable. They distribute weight evenly across the weft.
Excellent Choice: Micro-Link Extensions. Since they are applied strand-by-strand, they add no tension to the scalp and are also very lightweight. However, the beads must be perfectly matched to the hair strand size to be hidden.
Good Choice: Thin Clip-In Wefts. High-quality clip-ins with thin, layered wefts can work well if applied correctly and only worn for short periods.
Avoid: Traditional sew-ins or very thick, heavy wefts that can pull on fine hair.
